Climbing Mt. Fugi

Today Cayson shared with us about his mom's trip to Japan and climbing Mt. Fuji! Cayson brought in his mom's walking stick. It had the Japanese flag and symbols that had been burnt on the wood. He also brought in a photo album of his mother's trip and climb. We were AMAZED at this artifacts used at Mt. Fuji. Cayson sharing these things made the place, Mt. Fuji, even more real to us. THANK YOU Cayson and his mom for sharing!

Congrats Zach S.!

We had a Character Counts assembly this morning. At the assembly select students were awarded for showing respect, which was last month's pillar. Zachary S. was one of the students in the elementary who received this award. Congrats Zach! Way to show R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Thank you Cayson and Serine!

We are now learning about Japan cultures. Cayson shared with us pictures of his mom when she visited Japan. We enjoyed looking at his pictures and comparing them to pictures we have been looking at in books. Cayson also brought yen (Japanese money) and some Japanese foods. We did not try his foods. One of them looked like dried minnows. We were not sure how they ate them so we did some research and we believe they ate them on salads.
Serine also brought us some chicken wrapped in sticky rice. Serine said this was a dish they made in Laos. She told us how it reminded her of sushi that they eat in Japan. We all thought it tasted good!
